Leadership in social and environmental responsibility has always been an implicit part of Sterlite’s philosophy. It is our aspiration to consistently work towards the sharing of prosperity in more equitable ways so as to positively impact the development of communities where we do business, and enable the world to become a better place.

We are keen to leverage the Foundation’s expertise, experience and finances in various forms of education. Education is the soul of society, and passes from one generation to another, leading to overall development and economic upliftment. To achieve this we are working with various government and semi-government organizations.

We foresaw that information technology would be a significant growth driver in the future, encompassing individuals, businesses and organizations. Hence, information technology training has been our main focus area.

The Foundation provides youngsters with basic computer education, opening the gates of the vast world of information technology, thus enabling them to improve their economic status and join the mainstream of society.

Another significant step taken by the Foundation in this area is the project to introduce computer-training program in the municipal schools in Mumbai. Under this project, we are setting up the complete computer training facility in all the municipal schools. Every year, about 600,000 students will be benefited by this project.

Sterlite Foundation is a pioneer in providing free education and vocational training to prisoners in number of jails across India.

Our activities in other areas include several Child Welfare and Women Empowerment Programs.
While our painstaking efforts and initiatives are paying off, we continue to look for enriching and innovative ways to sustain our efforts.
